The Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) has implemented a 12% water rate increase effective October 1, 2025, to support its ongoing infrastructure improvements and operational costs. This marks the second-rate hike within the span of seven months. The first increase of 38% was implemented from March to August 2025, citing similar reasons related to system upgrades and sustainability. With this latest adjustment, consumers will see a cumulative increase of 50% in their water bills since March 2025.
